Fujifilm and four other companies in the photographic industry have jointly developed specifications for 24mm Advanced Photo System, for which we introduced products in April 1996. This consumer-oriented photographic system, is supported by innovative technologies such as a highly functional compact film cartridge (21 mm in diameter, 39 mm in height), enabling consistently reliable and simple drop-in loading; A-PEN, a new film base made from annealed-polyethylene napthalate, which allows for a significant reduction in cartridge size owing to its superior core-set curl characteristics and mechanical strength; and the information exchange system provided by the transparent magnetic layer on the back of the film.
