PHOTOKINA '98, COLOGNE, GERMANY, September 16, 1998 - Fuji Photo
Film Co., Ltd. has announced at Photokina '98 two innovative new products
that actualize the synergy of state-of-the-art digital technology and high-
quality silver halide instant photography technology. Designed to answer the
growing need among digital camera users for instant, on-the-spot photo
quality printouts, these two units promise to expand the pleasure of digital
image capturing. Representing a new concept in imaging technology, the
new products promise to create a new market for hybrid digital/silver halide
technology. Fujifilm Digital In-Printer Camera This digital camera with built-in printer offers the ability to record images, display them, and then print them out instantly, all in a single compact unit. The TFT LCD screen permits viewing of images, any one of which can then be selected for printing. The Digital In-Printer Camera accepts international-standard SmartMedia memory cards, allowing image data to
be transferred to and from personal computers for manipulation or storage.
The unit measures just 109mm (W) x 55mm (D) x 143mm (H), weighs just
610 grams (without batteries), and is powered by four AA-size (LR6) alkaline
batteries. The Digital In-Printer Camera's printing system employs Fujifilm's newly developed Instax Mini silver halide instant film and a vacuum fluorescent print head (VFPH). Prints are the same size as standard credit cards (film size: 54mm x 86mm; image size: 46mm x 62mm), making them a handy fit into wallets or purses. Fujifilm Digital Instax Mini Printer Measuring an extremely compact 95mm (W) x 166mm (D) x 58mm (H), and weighing 560 grams (without batteries), the Digital Instax Mini Printer uses the same Instax Mini film as the In-Printer Camera and produces the same type of credit card-size prints. Its outstanding portability makes it a perfect companion for digital cameras, allowing printouts any time and anywhere. Key to the small size of this unique battery-powered printer is Fujifilm's new instant photography technology. A fast ISO 800-speed film, Instax instant film requires only minimal power compared to other digital output methods for image formation, allowing the new printer to produce quick, high-quality prints powered by only two small CR123A lithium batteries. In addition to SmartMedia , the unit can accept image data via a parallel port
cable or an infrared interface. Both the Digital In-Printer Camera and the Digital Instax Mini Printer are scheduled to become available in mid-1999. |
