FUJIFILM'S ALADDIN DIGICAM PICTURE CENTER GIVES CONSUMERS THE POWER TO PRINT THEIR DIGITAL IMAGES AT RETAIL OUTLETS
PMA 2000, LAS VEGAS, NV, February 3, 2000 - Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. is introducing the Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center, a low-cost, easy-to-use countertop system for photo retailers and dealers that provides consumers with a quick and easy way to print images captured by digital cameras. Consumers simply walk up to the Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center, drop in their SmartMedia(tm) storage card, view the desired image or images on a liquid crystal display and wait a mere 35 seconds for the first print and 30 seconds for each print thereafter.
Retailers will appreciate the flexibility of the Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center, which is comprised of two compact components - a controller and a separate printing unit. The controller is designed to fit on countertop and the print unit - which does not have to be placed next to the control unit - allows for a variety of placement options at retail.
The Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center incorporates Thermo-Autochrome printing technology, an environmentally friendly single sheet process that requires no inks, toners or ribbons and is similar to the technology used in conventional photography where the dyes are formed in the paper. The Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center also uses a new Thermo-Autochrome paper that offers an enhanced, bright, glossy finish and faithful color reproduction for crisp, sharp images. Each roll of Thermo-Autochrome paper can produce 240 3.5 x 5-inch prints, and the printer is capable of housing two rolls of paper at once enabling 480 prints to be made before refilling.
"Photo retailers wanting to take advantage of the booming digital imaging business will find that the Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center delivers customer satisfaction with a relatively low investment in a system that can fit the needs of almost any retailer" said Tom Cuffari, Vice President, Sales, Digital Imaging Division, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "The Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center's operational costs require an outlay for electricity and paper only, while the equipment installation and maintenance costs are relatively low due to the simplicity of the system."
The Fujifilm Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center will be available May 2000.
