FUJIFILM'S HIGH TECH INNOVATIONS BUILD RETAILERS' PROFITABILITY
WITH TOTAL IMAGING SOLUTION
PMA 2000, LAS VEGAS, NV, February 3, 2000 - As consumers' demands for high quality imaging products and fast service increase, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc.'s fully-integrated, seamless system, Fujifilm Total Imaging Solution, continues to provide retailers with the means by which to offer consumers new levels of quality, speed, convenience and creativity and ultimately, build business and increase profitability.
Fujifilm is showcasing this unique, custom-designed system at PMA 2000 along with the system's state-of-the-art proprietary software that connects all of Fujifilm's picture-making and imaging options. Joining the existing core components of Fujifilm's Total Imaging Solution - the Fujifilm Digital Minilabs Frontier 370 and 350, the Fujifilm Aladdin Picture Centers and Fujifilm.Net - are several new, exciting products and services from Fujifilm that continue to address the growing needs of retailers and consumers. The new Fujicolor CD, Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center and Fujifilm Imaging Controller that utilizes the IBMtm Netfinity 5000 Server and is custom-configured to network with the Fujifilm Frontiers, Aladdins and Fujifilm.Net, all contribute to expanding the options and opportunities inherent in Fujifilm's Total Imaging Solution.
"By expanding and further fine-tuning our seamless, fully-integrated system of connectivity, Fujifilm is offering retailers and photo labs a single, powerful source for generating consumer demand and ultimately, increased profitability," said Bill DiMinno, Vice President and General Manager, Commercial Markets Division, Fuji Photo Film USA, Inc. "Designed to meet the needs of today's consumers who are actively looking for new and exciting ways to use, share and enjoy their pictures, Fujifilm's Total Imaging Solution allows photo retailers and labs to not only provide their customers with the convenience of 'one-stop-shopping' but also, with the products and services that are bringing imaging into the 21st century."
Frontier 370 and 350 Digital Minilabs: The Core Of Connectivity
Utilizing Fujifilm's unique solid-state laser technology, the high-speed Fujifilm Frontier 370 and 350 Digital Minilabs produce prints of exceptional photographic quality from virtually every means of input from silver halide film to digital sources (including digital camera media, PC cards, floppy disks, CD-ROMs and Ziptm disks.) Truly the "core of connectivity," the Frontiers integrate into virtually every one of Fujifilm's image management systems making it possible, for example, for users of Aladdin Picture Centers to obtain everything from high quality enlargements, calendars and novelty prints to reprints from previously scanned negative rolls. And, when linked with Fujifilm's Imaging Controller, a powerful, fully integrated digital system that incorporates both state-of-the-art software from Fujifilm and the Netfinity 5000 Server from IBM, the Frontier 370 and 350 allow retailers to expand business operations as demand grows for such products and services as Fujicolor CDs that give consumers an easy way to access and edit digitized images and Fujifilm.Net, an Internet service that allows consumers to email images, order reprints, enlargements and photo gifts, and store images long-term all at the click of a mouse.
Aladdin Picture Centers: Connectivity In The Retail Environment
To provide retailers with increased options and opportunities for expanding business and profitability, Fujifilm has expanded its family of Aladdin Picture Centers to include the Aladdin Picture Center with built-in Pictrography 3000 (PG3000) and new Aladdin Slimline Picture Center and Aladdin Countertop Picture Center. All are connectable to the Fujifilm Frontier system or optionally, the PG3000, which makes them ideal for placement virtually anywhere in the store to encourage use and enhance cross-merchandising efforts. And, because of their ability to connect to the Frontier system, the Aladdin Picture Centers now offer an expanded array of business-building capabilities including the ability to upload to and download images from Fujifilm's online photo service, Fujifilm.Net and order reprints from previously scanned negative rolls via the Aladdins' new "Filmless Reorder System."
Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center: Connectivity Between Digital Input and Printed Output
Another component of Fujifilm's Total Imaging Solution is the Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center, a low-cost, easy-to-use countertop system that gives retail outlets the means by which consumers can cost-effectively print their digital images. Consumers simply drop in their SmartMediatm card or other digital media, view the desired image or images on a liquid crystal display and within half a minute, have the first print. Retailers will especially appreciate the flexibility of the Aladdin DigiCam Picture Center which is comprised of two compact components - a controller and a separate printing unit which can be placed separately from the controller to ensure optimum use of retail space.
Fujifilm.Net: Connectivity At The Click Of A Mouse
The ultimate in online connectivity, Fujifilm.Net brings together the worlds of traditional photography, digital imaging and the Internet offering consumers a new, convenient and fun way to enjoy their images and retailers, expanded opportunities for increased sales. Thanks to Fujifilm's comprehensive system of connectivity, consumers need only have their images processed on a Frontier 370 or 350 equipped with Fujifilm's new Imaging Controller in order to have their images uploaded onto Fujifilm.Net. Images can be emailed to family and friends, who, in turn, can download and order their own set of picture-perfect, Frontier-produced prints. Images can also be stored on Fujifilm.Net. Naturally, reprints, enlargements or photographic specialty items can be easily ordered - anywhere, anytime. Featuring a newly revamped site, Fujifilm.Net now also boasts a powerful navigation interface that speeds up the loading and viewing of consumers' password-protected snapshots and makes the emailing process of sending photographs to friends and families simple, fast and more flexible.
Fujicolor CD - Connectivity for Computer Users
Once again, Fujifilm connectivity provides the key to new business and increased profitability. Now, via an Imaging Controller-linked Frontier, retailers can provide consumers with their images stored in a digitized format on a Fujicolor CD. And, because the new Fujicolor CDs incorporate state-of-the-art Microsoft Picture It! Express 2000 software, consumers can access their images via their PCs with more ease than ever before, edit and enhance them and then, share them with friends and family via email. Fujicolor CDs are also ideal input sources for Fujifilm Aladdin Picture Centers which consumers can additionally utilize to edit and enhance their images and produce everything from photographic enlargements to personalized calendars, bordered prints and such novelty items as trading and customized greeting cards.
"Once again, Fujifilm has demonstrated its leadership in developing new frontiers of connectivity," continued DiMinno. "With fully integrated products, systems and services, Fujifilm is continuing to provide retailers and photo labs with a Total Imaging Solution designed to provide a solid link between digital imaging and traditional photography and at the same time, create new opportunities for increased business and profitability."
